Tulip Festival Time

On Saturday, (April 25th), Dave and I drove to Thanksgiving Point for the annual Tulip Festival. We have been meaning for go for several years, but never found the time until now. Even though the sky was overcast and it was scheduled to rain, we decided to chance it and see as much as we could before any rain started falling. Even though it was quite windy, we were not disappointed!!! The display of 250,000 tulips was spectacular. And the bloom rate on Saturday was at 90%, (meaning that 90% of all their tulips were opened). It was a great display from the random gardens, to the formal displays. Dave and I even got to see a pair of mating geese and their litter of four little ones out for a Saturday afternoon stroll in the meadow. The little ones were just getting their feathers and were so cute.

It was Dutch Day at the festival, so we sampled some of the vendors food items, and watched a few minutes of the Dutch dancers on the patio.

Dave and I got lots of ideas for color schemes and wish lists for our future yard plans.

Afterwards, we went to Cabelas for lunch. Dave had the Hot 'n Spicy Buffalo burger and I had the Bison club. It was alot of food, and we brought home half of our lunch for a snack later that evening. When we came out of Cabelas, it was pouring down the rain, so our timing was quite good. We had a really good afternoon, and lots of pleasant memories.

We have the photos, but we WEREN'T there ???!!!

Last year Dave and I drove down to "FOUR CORNERS", (the place where Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona meet). We each stood on the mark with our feet planted in all four states and had our photo taken. Here's proof....
Now today, I learned on the news, that the ACTUAL spot is approximately 2 1/2 miles away. The government got the spot wrong back in 1868. Boy, oh boy - you can't trust the government to get anything right these days. Guess we need to get our GPS out, track down the actual spot and have another photo taken... but not to soon.

Lesson In Life

A friend had this video posted on their blog. It is presented by my favorite prophet, and I wanted to share President Hinkley's message with you.

May all your Life's Lesson be this easy !!

(Don't forget to turn off the music before you play the video, so you can hear the talk).

WICKED !!

Last night Dave and I went to see WICKED. It was wonderfully wicked. We laughed, we cheered, and really enjoyed it. Out of all the season tickets this year, WICKED was our favorite play. I didn't even mind that the play was almost 3 hours long. I was so mesmirized by the actual flying monkeys, and then Elphaba's rise into the rafters at the end of the 1st half. The last scene between Glinda and Elphaba is very good, when they say goodbye to each other. And the voices, costumes, and set designs were UNBELIEVABLE. So worth every price of the season tickets, just to see Wicked.

Then to totally blow me away, Dave bought me the "Wicked To The Good" glitter globe for my collection. How wonderful can a husband be? Of course it was overpriced!! But, when they told Dave that it was a limited edition, he was even more determined to buy it. It depicts the last scene of the play, and the globe plays "For the Good". It will truly be a special globe and I will always remember how much I loved the play everytime I look at the globe and wind it up. Thanks honey - you do such wonderful things for me.

Durango / Silverton Train

On Saturday, (4/11/09), Dave and I drove to Durango, Colorado to ride the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Steam Railroad Train. We had to be at the trainstation in Durango by 9:30 am for the 10:00 train call, so we left Monticello, Utah at 7:00 am. It was just a very light rain drizzle. About 20 minutes outside of Monticello it started snowing. Boy, did it snow !! The more we drove, the more it snowed. We hit a blizzard the closer we got to Durango.
We finally got to the trainstation by 9:15, and found out that the train was delayed by 30 minutes and wouldn't leave till 10:30. Even though it did rain and snow during the whole train ride, it was fun and interesting. Built in 1840, and restored in 1940, this actual train was used in quite a few movies, (i.e.: A ticket to Tomahawk, Across the Wide Missouri, Denver & Rio Grande, Lone Star, Around the World in Eighty Days, Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid, and many more). Dave bought us tickets to a table in first class, so we were very comfortable, warm, had excellent service, and met wonderful people from different parts of the world. By the time we pulled back into Durango, (at 3:30 pm), the snow and rain had passed, and the drive home was much better. It was an enjoyable and relaxing way to spend the day. We have done several train rides, and this was one of the better ones.

Easter Obituary

A friend sent me this interesting obit. I wish I had received it before Easter, so that I could have had it posted before the Holiday weekend. I hope you enjoy it as much and I did.

EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH - DAVE

Dave has been working LOTS and LOTS of hours for the last six months getting his company's computer system ready for the new software program conversion that took place this month. He's spent lots of long hours at the office, and lots of nights and weekends in his home office on the computer, especially when he couldn't sleep because some part of the process would keep him awake until he would get out of bed and work on it until the process was completed. Well, this week two of the department supervisors nominated Dave as the company's Employee Of The Month and he won. So in June, his photo will be on the front of the company newsletter with a little bio write up, and he got a gift certificate to Provo Towne Center Mall along with some "atta boys" from the department heads. WAY TO GO SWEETIE - I LOVE YOU.
Now go get some much needed sleep.
