Tulip Festival Time

On Saturday, (April 25th), Dave and I drove to Thanksgiving Point for the annual Tulip Festival. We have been meaning for go for several years, but never found the time until now. Even though the sky was overcast and it was scheduled to rain, we decided to chance it and see as much as we could before any rain started falling. Even though it was quite windy, we were not disappointed!!! The display of 250,000 tulips was spectacular. And the bloom rate on Saturday was at 90%, (meaning that 90% of all their tulips were opened). It was a great display from the random gardens, to the formal displays. Dave and I even got to see a pair of mating geese and their litter of four little ones out for a Saturday afternoon stroll in the meadow. The little ones were just getting their feathers and were so cute.

It was Dutch Day at the festival, so we sampled some of the vendors food items, and watched a few minutes of the Dutch dancers on the patio.

Dave and I got lots of ideas for color schemes and wish lists for our future yard plans.

Afterwards, we went to Cabelas for lunch. Dave had the Hot 'n Spicy Buffalo burger and I had the Bison club. It was alot of food, and we brought home half of our lunch for a snack later that evening. When we came out of Cabelas, it was pouring down the rain, so our timing was quite good. We had a really good afternoon, and lots of pleasant memories.

  1. It looks like you guys had a great time! It looks like you are trying to hatch something in your nest in the tulips...
