May all your Life's Lesson be this easy !!

WICKED !!

Last night Dave and I went to see WICKED. It was wonderfully wicked. We laughed, we cheered, and really enjoyed it. Out of all the season tickets this year, WICKED was our favorite play. I didn't even mind that the play was almost 3 hours long. I was so mesmirized by the actual flying monkeys, and then Elphaba's rise into the rafters at the end of the 1st half. The last scene between Glinda and Elphaba is very good, when they say goodbye to each other. And the voices, costumes, and set designs were UNBELIEVABLE. So worth every price of the season tickets, just to see Wicked.

Then to totally blow me away, Dave bought me the "Wicked To The Good" glitter globe for my collection. How wonderful can a husband be? Of course it was overpriced!! But, when they told Dave that it was a limited edition, he was even more determined to buy it. It depicts the last scene of the play, and the globe plays "For the Good". It will truly be a special globe and I will always remember how much I loved the play everytime I look at the globe and wind it up. Thanks honey - you do such wonderful things for me.

Durango / Silverton Train

On Saturday, (4/11/09), Dave and I drove to Durango, Colorado to ride the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Steam Railroad Train. We had to be at the trainstation in Durango by 9:30 am for the 10:00 train call, so we left Monticello, Utah at 7:00 am. It was just a very light rain drizzle. About 20 minutes outside of Monticello it started snowing. Boy, did it snow !! The more we drove, the more it snowed. We hit a blizzard the closer we got to Durango.
We finally got to the trainstation by 9:15, and found out that the train was delayed by 30 minutes and wouldn't leave till 10:30. Even though it did rain and snow during the whole train ride, it was fun and interesting. Built in 1840, and restored in 1940, this actual train was used in quite a few movies, (i.e.: A ticket to Tomahawk, Across the Wide Missouri, Denver & Rio Grande, Lone Star, Around the World in Eighty Days, Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid, and many more). Dave bought us tickets to a table in first class, so we were very comfortable, warm, had excellent service, and met wonderful people from different parts of the world. By the time we pulled back into Durango, (at 3:30 pm), the snow and rain had passed, and the drive home was much better. It was an enjoyable and relaxing way to spend the day. We have done several train rides, and this was one of the better ones.

Easter Obituary

A friend sent me this interesting obit. I wish I had received it before Easter, so that I could have had it posted before the Holiday weekend. I hope you enjoy it as much and I did.

EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH - DAVE

Dave has been working LOTS and LOTS of hours for the last six months getting his company's computer system ready for the new software program conversion that took place this month. He's spent lots of long hours at the office, and lots of nights and weekends in his home office on the computer, especially when he couldn't sleep because some part of the process would keep him awake until he would get out of bed and work on it until the process was completed. Well, this week two of the department supervisors nominated Dave as the company's Employee Of The Month and he won. So in June, his photo will be on the front of the company newsletter with a little bio write up, and he got a gift certificate to Provo Towne Center Mall along with some "atta boys" from the department heads. WAY TO GO SWEETIE - I LOVE YOU.
Now go get some much needed sleep.

My Friend - Valerie

Today a friend told me that I needed to put a new post of my blog, since it has been too long since the last post. I really haven't had anything worthy to post, and I've been so busy. And the sad thing is, as I sit here tonight, the only thing that I can think about is that today is the day that I lost one of my dearest friends, Valerie Nichols. She passed away on March 31, 2007. She had been ill for quite some time, and she had mentioned several times that she was ready to die, but like most people, I did not really think that she would be leaving me so soon. Even when she went into the hospital several times, I always knew that she would pull through and come home, and then Dave and I would go visit and play cards with her and Ed and spend the evening laughing and having a ball - just as if nothing was wrong. But, two years ago her body was finally too tired to fight anymore, and her heart too weak. As I sit here now, I wish I could pick up the phone and call her for one of our long long late night talks. She was always up late at night and ready to talk. I miss our card games, our shopping trips, our secret jokes, the 30 years of history that 2 people develop as their friendship grows. I hope that there were times I lifted her spirits just a little, just as she lifted my spirits. I will always remember my dear friend, and I know that she is laughing and healthy in the Celestial Kingdom right now.

Save a spot for me at the Canasta table, Valerie.

TICKETS, TICKETS, TICKETS

On Friday evening, (3/6), Dave and I got a chance to visit and tour the new Draper LDS temple. It was a very uplifting experience for me, and Dave was impressed by the beauty of the Temple and the significance of the symbolism throughout the different areas. One of the first things that he noticed, (and he lingered and admired), was the baptismal font that rested on the 12 oxen. When I explained to him that the oxen represented the 12 tribes of Israel, he nodded and walked around to get a better views.
The next item that really caught his attention was the chandelier in the Celestial Room. His question to me was "how much do you think that weighs?" I replied, "A lot, and I bet it's worth more than it weighs!!". Then we heard Temple President Donald Staheli and his wife speak in the largest of the 5 Sealing rooms, about the temple and it's importance, and especially the importance of Heavenly Father's eternal plan for all families. It was a very touching touching tour for me, and made me very grateful for the plan of salvation. Then on to Dave's favorite part of the tour "Free Cookies". :-) ...
Next, we were lucky to score tickets to the sold out performace of the Easter Bell Ringing program in the Tabernacle on Good Friday, (April 10th). This is the 2nd time that we have been lucky enough to get free tickets an LDS Bell Ringing event. The last time was for the Christmas Bell Ringing program. How lucky we must be!!
